Over time, sensors have moved from being a buzzword to a stimulator that is narrowing the gaps between physical and the digital world. It plays a key role in the IoT ecosystem, help detect, collect and share real-time data at a faster rate and accurately. These extensive insights enable businesses to make intelligent decisions and improve their performance.

Conversant with IoT sensors and their power to solve the pain points of the industries, Nishanth Raja, Aswin Kathirvel, Krishnan Balasubramanian, and Prabhu Rajagopal hatched a plan of reconceptualizing sensing technologies to help organizations monitor their operations better. The group’s deep-rooted penchant and involvement with IoT and Ultrasonic waveguide sensors inspired them to explore the potential of ultrasonic sensors and Industrial-IoT solutions, brainstorm devices and produce vital real-time data that could assist operators using high-temperature processes under hostile & hazardous conditions to improve their performance, functionality, and asset life. They have built a complete IoT-based analysis platform named XYMA Analytics to democratize sensor-based efficiency in industries.

XYMA Analytics is among the 12 startups that were part of the sixth edition of Qualcomm Design in India Challenge (QDIC) – an initiative to encourage design houses and product companies to invent useful and innovative hardware product designs incorporating Qualcomm SoC platforms and technologies. The startup received the opportunity to convert its design submissions into workable prototypes under the mentorship of industry experts, utilizing the Qualcomm® Innovation Lab infrastructure.

The startup provides a range of robust, multi-purpose, and wide temperature products. Their high temperature sensors μTMaps and μSTMaps uses the single waveguide sensors to measure multipoint temperatures up to 1400°C. A multi-parameter sensor, PoRTS- Portable Rheology and Temperature Sensor is designed to measure the viscosity, temperature, and levels of the fluid with the help of a single ultrasonic waveguide with higher reliability and precision. Based on waveguide, Ztar ultrasonic level sensors comes with both contact and non-contact variants and provides accurate measurement even at higher temperatures. XYMA’s I-PAMS (Intelligent Plant Asset Monitoring System) is an IoT based sensing technology that can visualize data at any time, enables report generation, predictive maintenance, real-time monitoring to increase efficiencies and provide corrective actions.

Founded in 2019, XYMA Analytics is a spin-out from the Centre for NDE, IIT Madras, and incubated by IIT Madras Incubation Cell. Ever since its inception, the startup has come a long way, their ground-breaking technology has turned the heads of innovation leaders. XYMA Analytics is funded by VC Investors & Angel Networks like the Innovation Voucher Program (IVP), and the Government Of Tamil Nadu and is backed by leading organizations such as Qualcomm, Nasscom CoE IoT & AI, IBM, Forge, SmartHub.ai, StartupTN, and ShellE4. It owns a robust client base that consists of names like Saint-Gobain, TATA Steel, Vedanta, Bharat Petroleum, and more. They have won titles like that of Startup Tamil Nadu Top 19-Most Promising Startup, Qualcomm Design Indian Challenge 21 Finalist, the TANSEED award from the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and Shell E4 Digital Track 21 Cohort. In 2019, XYMA bagged around $1 million from a group of investors 8x Venture, Sophonos, and Venture Catalysts. The startup is blooming in terms of its geographical presence, revenue, and clients. Today, they have a robust team of 30 members who are enthusiastically working towards augmenting their products, achieving their goals, and taking the company to a global level. Rooted in Chennai, XYMA Analytics has a clear and compelling vision of further nurturing and strengthening relationships with its clients, targeting new markets, and collaborations. They aim to expand their reach across regions like the Middle East and Europe.
