The rising prevalence of hearing-related issues has prompted T Uday Raga Kiran and Remya Ravi to leverage their profound understanding in addressing the gaps within the hearing healthcare landscape. The husband-wife duo took a pivot leap and launched Nautilus Hearing-a groundbreaking hearing care company that leverages cutting-edge technologies to simplify, enhance accessibility, and ensure reliability in hearing care, and raising awareness about the crucial yet often overlooked aspect of hearing health.

The primary objective is to revolutionize the landscape of hearing care services, streamlining three major concerns i.e., reliability, affordability, and accessibility; specifically focusing on rural areas where diagnostic facilities are scarce.

Nautilus Hearing is incubated at nasscom Center of Excellence – IoT & AI, Bengaluru, which is a Joint initiative of the Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY), Govt. of Karnataka, and nasscom.

Having a deep understanding of the startup’s potential, nasscom CoE presented them the opportunity to deploy the Kivi Diagnostic Audiometer with integrated otoscopy at the esteemed Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences in Hubli. This intelligent point-of-care diagnostic device, featuring AI integration and advanced digital patient record-keeping, brought about a paradigm shift in the diagnosis and treatment of ear and hearing disorders.

“Our collaboration with MeitY CoE, situated at the vibrant K-tech Center in Bangalore, marked a pivotal moment for us. Beyond offering a platform, it embraced us into a community of innovators and advocates who shared our vision. What adds an extra layer of inspiration to our journey is my origin from a tier-2 city, Hubli. It was during this phase that K-tech Center of Excellence (CoE) extended its support, reaching out to us and providing incubation within their programs,” said Remya Ravi, Founder, Nautilus Hearing.

In its transformative journey dedicated to addressing hearing healthcare needs, the Nautilus’ central focus remains on its flagship offering KiVi, which is a pioneering point-of-care digital portable diagnostic device for rapid hearing loss testing, empowering ENT and audiology professionals, hospitals, NGOs, PHCS, and more. This comprehensive solution includes an otoscope, audiometry, special tests, and digital reports. It provides patients with a range of services including screening, diagnostic tests, rehabilitation, and follow-ups. With its user-friendly and easily learnable features, this device becomes accessible for use by anyone and can be conveniently located anywhere. These standout features, dramatically reduces setup costs by 80 per cent, with an estimated annual revenue potential of approximately 15 lakhs.

Established in 2018, the startup has made significant strides. Its achievements, such as conducting 5000 hearing tests across a wide age range (from 4 to 90 years), organizing outreach programs in diverse settings including schools, colleges, police stations, industries & remote areas, and identifying 25 per cent ear related problems (out of which 20 per cent requires rehabilitation and follow ups) are noteworthy. Its coup speaks underscores the startup’s dedication and effectiveness in addressing the lingering hearing health issues within just a few years of its establishment.

In addition to its success, Nautilus Hearing has won the Karnataka Government’s ELEVATE Programme, and bagged titles like Best Startup Award Melting Pot 2020, Tie Women Global (1st Runner Up), Tide2 Kick-off Grand, and many more. The startup boasts a distinguished clientele base which includes names like Cavalier Hospital, Ratna ENT & Surgical Clinic, Samarthanam trust, Aradhya ENT and skin care center, KELTRON, Vaikhari Center for Speech and Hearing and many others.
